The Québec government maintains a list of jobs it considers in high demand or in particular sectors that are the object of labour shortages. These jobs are either in the management, professional or technical categories. To accelerate the hiring of foreign temporary workers in these occupations, the Québe government applies an advertising exemption to simplified LMIAs , that is, employers are not required to submit proof of recruitment efforts as is the case for regular LMIAs. LMIA applications must be submitted simultaneously to Employment and Social Development Canada and the Quebec Ministry of Immigration.

The professions listed under the Quebec Simplified LMIA category according to the current year’s updated list, include financial directors, human resource professionals, aerospace engineers, mechanical engineers, computer and software engineers, mechanical engineering technologists and technicians , industrial engineering and manufacturing technologists and technicians, IT consultants, interactive media developers and programmers, Web developers, computer network technicians, video game testers, specialized physicians, family physicians, licensed practical nurses, graphic designers, producers, directors and project managers (video games, special effects), and many others.
