NAFTA BUSINESS VISITORS

A NAFTA business visitor is a U.S. or Mexican citizen who can enter Canada without a work permit to engage in activities of a commercial nature. The purpose of the visit should be to participate in international business activities without directly entering the Canadian labour market and the primary source of remuneration for the business activity must be outside Canada.

Business activities covered by this category are:

  • research and design;
  • growth, manufacture and production;
  • marketing;
  • sales;
  • distribution;
  • after-sales service; and
  • general service.

 

To apply as a business visitor, the applicant must be a U.S. or Mexican citizen, be admissible and present the required supporting documents at a Canadian Point of Entry (POE).

Business visitors may seek entry to Canada for a number of regular visits related to a specific project. These visits may take place over a period of weeks or months.
