BUSINESS VISITORS

A business visitor is a foreign national who can enter Canada without a work permit to work temporarily (less than 6 months). The purpose of travel should be to participate in international business activities without directly entering the Canadian labor market and the primary source of remuneration for the business activity must be outside Canada.

To apply as a business visitor, the applicant must be admissible, submit the required support documents, and obtain a Temporary Resident Visa or an eTA according to the country of nationality or of lawful residence.

Examples of business visitors are:

  1. Foreign purchasers
  2. Intra-company trainees and trainers
  3. People providing after-sales services
  4. Meeting, conference, convention and fair attendees
  5. Certain activities in the commercial production industry or in the film or recording industry

It is not always easy to distinguish activities in this category from those that require a work permit. To know more about the requirements for business visitors, please CONTACT US to schedule a legal consultation.
