START-UP VISA

The Canada Start-Up Visa program allows immigrant entrepreneurs to become permanent residents if they can show they have the skills and the potential to launch an innovative, job-creating, globally competitive business in Canada in partnership with experienced Canadian investors groups.

To be eligible:

  1. You must obtain a letter of support from a designated angel investor group for a minimum amount of $ 75,000 or designated venture capital fund for a minimum amount of $ 200,000.
  2. You must meet the ownership requirements for a qualifying business by holding at least 10 percent of the voting rights in the business. Also the designated organization and the applicants must jointly hold more than 50 percent of the voting rights in the business.
  3. You must show your intermediate ability in English or French (CLB 5 in the four language skills – speaking, reading, listening and writing), by taking a language test from an agency approved by IRCC.
  4. You must have sufficient funds to meet your needs and those of your dependents upon arrival in Canada.
