QUEBEC SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM AND THE PEQ
News: 28/05/2020 the Quebec government is currently making important changes to the PEQ. More details to come shortly.
If you decide to immigrate to the province of Québec, you will first have to make an official application to obtain a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) before applying for permanent residence in Canada. The Quebec Skilled Worker Program selects candidates on the basis of their capacity to succeed economically in Québec.
ARRIMA is the immigration application management system selection system that manages applications for the Regular Quebec Skilled Worker Program.
Arrima follows a three-step process:
- First, the applicant must complete an express of interest application online
- The Quebec Ministry of Immigration reviews the bank of expressions of interest and issues invitations to applicants who meet certain criteria, based on labour market needs in the different regions of Québec. Those individuals can submit a permanent selection application and pay the associated fees.
- Applications will be evaluated using a selection grid which allocates points for factors such as age, education, occupational skills, language skills, work experience, number of children and capacity to be financially self-sufficient.
The successful applicant will receive the Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) which will then qualify him or her to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
