The maximum number of applications for the Entrepreneurs and Self-Employed Program for the period from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017 has been met. There will be no openings for the period of 2017-2018. An announcement by the Quebec Immigration Ministry as to the shape of a new entrepreneur program is expected later in 2017.

To be eligible for the Entrepreneurs Program, applicants must:

• have a minimum net worth of CDN $ 300,000, lawfully obtained with, if applicable, his / her spouse or common-law partner, provided that he / she accompanies him or her.
• have experience in the full-time operation of a business of at least two years acquired in the five years prior to the date of application in a profitable and lawful business (agricultural, industrial or commercial) It controls, alone or with its accompanying spouse or common-law partner, at least 25% of the shareholders’ equity.
• submit your application in one of the following two areas:
• - Project Business Suitability component: submit a business proposal for the creation or acquisition of a business in Québec. It must control, alone or with its accompanying spouse or common-law partner, at least 25% of the equity (a value of at least C $ 100,000).
• Component Acquisition of a business in Québec: having acquired in Québec, alone or with its accompanying spouse or common-law partner, at least 25% of the equity of a business, this percentage must be at least $ 100,000 CAN.
• In both streams, the candidate must either manage the business itself or participate as an associate in the management and day-to-day operations of the business.

The evaluation of a candidate also relates to other factors, such as age, the nature and duration of his / her professional training, his language skills, his knowledge of Québec and his ability to adapt
